I got a laptop last summer for my high school graduation. It's fucking sweet, I love it. I'd been doing my best to keep it virus free. But I think something still fucking got me.

I downloaded an admittedly shifty torrent from the Pirate Bay. It was a drum machine software application (DR007 or something like that...I've been messing around making my own music lately and I thought a free drum machine would be nice). Well, I think it was actually pretty nasty. I never did figure out how to work it, because I think the actual machine sounds were located in a different file in the torrent...whatever, so I figured "fuck it, I'm just going to uninstall." Well, I go to add/remove programs, and it doesn't let me. Something about "not enough access. contact system administrator." Well I'm the motherfucking administrator.

right then I knew something wasn't right. I've been having some other problems since I downloaded. About 2 weeks ago, the toolbar froze up...or something. It was recognizing every program I opened and everything, but when I clicked on anything I just got the little ping alert noise. Mind, the startbar worked fine, this was just the toolbar. I called my school's tech support desk and they told me to turn off User Account Control or something...restarted the comp, everything seemed back to normal. Well, then I started having some internet problems...slow load times, connection craps out for whatever reason...and this is my home landline now, which has been working magnificently on my mom's desktop. Last night my little scrollbar stops working. WTF, right? so I restart the computer tonight, when it books back up, SURPRISE BUTTSECKS, the mouse is frozen. I can't move the bitch. I hit ctrl+alt+del, mouse starts working again, but obviously something is wrong.

I go to add and remove programs, get rid of some shit I don't seem to recognize. there's some suspicious looking motherfuck that I terminated, and I also finally downloaded some kind of HP update that was apparently "critical"...that seemed to clear up the internet files. But I still can't delete this drum machine thing. So I go find the bitch in program files, and just delete it all. Seems to work. Go to recycling bin, hit empty recycling bin....and my recycling bin DISAPPEARS. Figure that one out. So obviously this drum thing is nasty as hell. I download virus removal software in hopes that it'll catch whatever's fucking up my world, but it says everything's all clear.

So HOW THE FUCK DO I GET RID OF THIS DRUM MACHINE PARASITE? Plz help me.

you could try restarting in safe mode and trying to uninstall it or do a system restore to before when you got it, that might work.

Yeah I was thinking System Restore, but wouldn't lose anything I've done since then?

i'm probably fucking on terminology here but using system restore should keep all the "hard data" like mp3 and dvd etc.

Yeah, I read the help option on it last night. I'm going to do it later today.
