so my girlfriend bought an album about a year ago on iTunes. Since then, her computer broke and now that she has a new one she wants to download it again. Should she have to pay for it again?

She should've backed up the files.

If she didn't, you can e-mail Apple telling them what happened and sometimes they'll let you re-download them. They'll also send you a stern e-mail about how you should back up your files.

That stern lecturing would make more sense if apple didn't restrict what you could do with those files.

That's probably why they're offering DRM-free files now.

And anyone with a brain could do whatever they wanted with the DRM files.
