Ok so I got into a version of GTA that I downloaded off the net, but it's really dark. So whenever I play it I turn up the brightness on my monitor. Well I think I've done it one too many times because now all the colours and shit are going wacky. I have it up so high that it should be blinding me but it's still really dark (just on the net and my comp in general now.) Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? :|

I don't have the greatest eyesight, but yet I find my eyes irritated by the computer monitors at school. Their default setting is 60 hz, and I thought that was near the threshhold for human perception, but yet the screen looks wavy to me. When I bump it up to 85 hertz, its not an issue. Is this a common complaint or do I have especially sensitive eyes? My former desktop had a flatsceen, and I currently use a laptop, while most of the school monitors are CRTs. Is it perhaps an issue of the method of CRT's refreshing versus my laptop's monitor?

crt monitors refesh constantly even if your not doing anything on the pc or you are away from the keyboard, flat screens do not refesh unless you are doing something so for example you go get a drink and your computer is not doing anything the picture will not refesh like a crt would thats why you get that flicker on a crt
