I'm curious as to what the low end of cost is for a decent laptop. $500? Is there anything less? I'm looking to purchase one with the main selling points of good wireless interwebs, DVD playback, lightweight and of minimal cost. In fact, outside of media and internet, I won't be using it for much else.

I've been looking at the Dell Inspiron 1525 since I've had good luck with their computers overall, but is there something else out there that's inexpensive and worth looking into for a laptop I'm not expecting to do much?

i think dell's the way to go, but their prices have seemingly gone up, and they don't offer financing anymore from what i see. i desperately need a desktop but i can't seem to get it any cheaper than $700 or so on their web site, and that seems expensive.
