I've been using Windows Media Player to burn CDs lately, and it works fine, but the CD's don't play in all my CD players. My computer plays them fine, but they don't play on my discman, and my portable CD player. I tried burning them at 4x and 2x, but that didn't help.
Is it because I'm using cheap CD-Rs, or could it be Windows Media Player?
If anyone has any answers to this it would be greatly appreciated.

Possibly. It could also be that the devices you are playing them in are cheap and the laser has a hard time reading the discs. The first step would be to try and use a different brand disc and see if that's it.

I'll give that a try.
if you have a spare cd-rw lying around, i'd try one of those. they tend to be "easier" to read, as far as i know.

Actually, CD-RW are harder to read. In fact, I have no devices (other than my PC) that play CD-RW.

I've played burnt CDs in my discman all the time, but it won't play the one's I've tried to burn myself. The CDs work in my brand new CD player that supports CDR playback.

hmmm, well if you played burnt cds in your disc man before and it doesn't work now then it might be the discs.

Actually, CD-RW are harder to read. In fact, I have no devices (other than my PC) that play CD-RW.
huh. everything i own will play cd-rw just fine but not everything i have will play cd-r's. i know several other people in the same boat. you must be made of magic dust or something, congrats
