I think I know exactly what happened.. it was Tyler Durden (or a clone of him from Synergy angered by their lack of a home). You know how in Fight Club, he says "You erase the debt, and everyone goes back to zero" to justify the destruction of major credit buildings?
You erase the post-counts and everyone goes back to zero.
