my sister has an ipod and she has x amount of music on it from one of her friends. she bought her own ipod and wants to transfer the music from her friend's ipod to her ipod. i can't find a way to just copy and paste from one folder to the other (it won't even let me pull up the folder in windows). we have itunes but i have all of my music in there. i'm afraid to check sync in order to get the music off of the ipod for fear it will delete my music library. what do i do?

thanks for the help
i'd like to add that i've tried copying/pasting within itunes and it won't let me. i can copy and paste music on the ipod and re-copy it to the ipod (which is retarded) and i can copy and paste music in my library to my library...but i can't copy the playlist on the ipod and paste it into my library. what the fuck
oh, and i can pull up the actual windows folders now, but instead of actual "music" listed under the music folder (as in all of the mp3's etc) there are random mp3's with random names and random m4p files (playlists maybe?) spread out over different folders entitled F00, F01, F02, etc up to F05. im gonna try copying these and transferring them that way. wish me luck

nope, copying/pasting in windows explorer did not work. it even says on the ipod that you have to use the sync feature in itunes in order for it to work. why do "the kids" have to have an ipod? i have a walkman mp3 player and it works SOOOOOOOOOO much easier.

you need programs to extract the mp3s from the ipod. i got one called Senuti wich is perfect. but i got a mac and i dont know if there's a version for windows.

what i ended up doing is copying the files from one ipod to my computer and than importing those files into itunes, connected the other ipod and moved the files onto it. (as opposed to opening a window in explorer and copying/pasting that way). it worked out well, except for a few songs that were appraently purchased via itunes and can't be played a computer that didn't purcahase the song.

Nope, Mac only.
I haven't tried it myself, but I'm told Red Chair is the shit. Essentially turns an iPod into a standard mp3 player with all of the added functionality and ease of use.
