Post subject: Accessing my iPod as a USB drive won't work. Vista problem?

And it used to work with no problems on my old computer. I just got a new Vista PC, and want all the songs off my old 3rd gen iPod (4 button model).
I dock the iPod, and it pops up in MY COMPUTER as "removable drive F:". Clicking on it does nothing, though after a while it asks me if I want to format the iPod. No thanks.
iTunes doesn't even recognize the fucking thing. I just want all the music off of it so I can finally smash it in the driveway.
Can anyone help?
