why do you want a new camera? i thought you had a pretty decent one already

i don't even own one. i think you're confused, my last job furnished me a snap and shoot and a nikon d60. but now i'm camera-less, been so for almost a year now.

I don't think you are going to find a new DSLR for under $250. I'm assuming you want a DSLR and not a point and shoot.

Your best bet is to probably get a refurbished camera

My buddy has a Canon point-and-shoot that I was going to recommend until I saw the $589 price tag. I found another Canon camera that has good reviews on Amazon and fits your price range.

When you're looking at camera models, I recommend looking them up on Flickr to check out pictures people have taken with those cameras. Some of the images may have been enhanced with software, but you can still get a good idea what the camera can do. Here's the Flickr page for that Canon I saw on Amazon:

you might find it cheaper elsewhere.. great little camera, easy to take at gigs, films in HD. Only thing I miss on it is there's no manual settings unlike the Canons.

Go easy on the megapixels counting. 1920x1080(full HD) is 2.0MP, so 7.2MP is more than enough.
