Ah, is this one of those philosophical questions about how do we know everyone actually sees the same colors? So far as I know there is no way to prove that everyone sees colors the same. We can only prove that some people can not tell the difference between certain colors (color blindness).

noone may see any 1 color the same way, however, each color (light) has a designated frequency determining its location within the visual spectrum. the brain processes these frequencies through our eyes and creates the image. Color blind people have brains which for whatever biological reason can't distinguish/show certain frequencies, hence their difficulty in differentiating, as said before, perhaps green vs. red. as for the details between blackand white and color tvs... i don't know what technology made the color tv possible.

Well, I do. There is this guy at my work who is our head graphic designer, and he is color blind. His designs are always fucked up color wise, and we end up having to change them for him.

It's not really philosophical, it's biological. Try and work in a print shop where people demand color matches

Ready to be freaked out? The color of an object isn't the actual color, it's the color or wavelength reflected by an object. Thus what you perceive as red is the reflected complementary color (wavelength) from it's opposite, in this case green. That's because all other colors in the light spectrum are absorbed by the object except it's complement color, which is the one reflected back at your eye and is what we use to describe the perception of color.
