I just picked up a new lg cd writer, i intalled it, it was recognized under the device manager, but the new hardware baloon appeared in the right hand corner still, after loading up the computer would just restart itself out of the blue.

sounds like theres a conflict somwhere. do you have the jumper set properly?

I just got it working, originally the dvd drive and the old burner were on the same cable, i unhooked the cable from the dvd drive and just hooked it up too the burner. the dvd drive hardly ever got used so its no big loss.
