with winxp, you cant just get someones serial number like you could with win 98, they have security measures to bust your ass if you do, not saying they always work, but better safe than sorry.

you should be able to call microsoft and explain the situation and they might be able to help ya there

well....I guess I'll try that I have no other choice. Because I'm NOT buying it again........IF i were to use my friends key, he has it but I don't think is using it anymore, he's on 2005....can I get busted? I just talked to him and he said it would be cool.....

there are plenty of copies of XP corporate out there where a reg key is not needed. Check out some popular Bit torrent sites. If you can't find one I have one for trade.
