I basically don't know what I'm doing

I was going to get an Acer but some reviews said the keyboards on them are bad and all I do is type so that won't do

so which brands are best and what processers(?) should I look for ?

Get an Asus. They're reasonably priced and well built machines.

Get Asics. They provide comfort and plenty of support.

I have a Toshiba Satellite that has outlasted and outperformed every laptop I've ever had (including a Sony Vaio). It's 10x better than the $1200 Dell I use at work.

I've heard very good things about Toshibas as well. My next laptop will either be another Asus (most likely) or a Toshiba.

I hate small keyboards. One of the reasons why I got a big laptop. The one I have is only slightly smaller than a normal keyboard, and has the full 10 key setup on the right.
