Bleh. My macbook pro is now on the verge of death maybe.

Screen cracked in the lower left corner. I came home the other night to a cold apartment as I leave the balcony door open for my pup. Computer was on the couch about 15 feet from the door. yes it was a cold night but it was not THAT cold.

Anyways, went to open up the screen and then it cracked where my thumb was at in the lower left corner. Talked to Apple and they told me if I mail it in to be fixed they will have to classify it as "Accidental damage" in which they will not cover it. Estimated cost of about $600 to fix.

They told me to bring it to an authorized apple store and make my case in person but I do not have much confidence. I also researched how to DIY and it seems like a bloated process. Looks like getting all the stuff alone would cost me at least $300, on top of the high % chance I end up ruining some of the electronic parts.

Im either screwed and will have to fork out a good chunk of change to get the screen replaced or I can pray to baby jesus they will cover the damage.

Or, perhaps a technically proficient RMer has had any experience replacing/fixing and has some other advice.

Thanks and god bless.

USB a cheaper monitor (or pehaps one that you already have) into your computer.

If necessary, you can buy an adapter that will connect to a monitor cable and that you can then plug into a USB port on your computer.

Kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop though
