I've recently subscribed to the Wallace-I mailing list, but quickly I've grown annoyed by the volume of emails that I get from this thing. So, I went to my account preferences, and then turned on the option to receive updates in "digest form." The idea is that I would get one email a day full of everything that has been submitted to the list and could read all of them at my leisure. But I get something like three digest form submissions an hour. What should I do here? Is there a way that I can create a folder on gmail just for things sent from wallace-l-request@waste.org? |

Not very helpful, unless you tell me what a label does. |

Pretty much the same thing folders do. |

So lets say that I label emails from wallace-l-request@waste.org as "Wallace-I". Then what happens? |

In the column on the left side of your screen where you have Inbox, drafts, etc, will also appear any labels you created. When you click on the label in that column you'll see only messages with that label. Once you've applied labels to messages you can archive them which will take them out of your inbox without deleting them. Then you can see them by clicking on the label. It also makes searching easier because you can search for something within a label instead of your entire account. I know for a fact you can set up a filter so emails from that list get automatically labeld and archived so they don't show up in your inbox but instead go right to the label "folder". |

Now I want to join more mailing lists, just so that I can filter them. |
