Don't let him push you around B. They're both acceptable:

Uh huh. And "judgement" is an acceptable spelling now as well. If people fuck something up long enough, it becomes acceptable. If you lie enough, it becomes the truth. This is the guiding principle of the Bush Administration.

In 20 years, dictionaries will say that "nuk-yu-ler" will be a correct pronunciation as well. I'll continue to know better.

Geez somebody's a little bitter, eh? And for the record, "bald-faced" is newer than bold-faced:

Merriam-Webster wrote:
Topic: 'Bald face' or 'bold face'?

A fellow of our acquaintance, a man known to shave his head clean upon occasion, came right out and asked for the true story behind the phrase bald-faced liar. He wanted to know if an out-and-out liar is more properly called a bold-faced liar or a bald-faced liar.

The truth is this: both are used, and so is barefaced. Bald-faced is the newest term; its first known print appearance dates back only 62 years, to 1943. Bold-faced is some four centuries older than that, dating to 1591. Although you might guess bald-faced developed out of a mishearing of bold-faced, the meanings of the two adjectives are not synonymous. Bold-faced means “bold in manner or conduct; impudent”; bald-faced has the same meaning as barefaced: “open; unconcealed”; and “having or showing a lack of scruples.”

Barefaced is one year older than bold-faced; its first print appearance dates to 1590. But the original meaning of barefaced was literal: it meant “having the face uncovered”, either “beardless” or “wearing no mask.” Not surprisingly, folks using the word barefaced were open to shifting the adjective into the metaphoric realm: barefaced soon came to describe something “unconcealed or open”; and then something “showing or having a lack of scruples.”

Yeah, thank you, punkdavid, for completely taking the sting out of my sarcastic slam with your inferior knowledge of the English language.

Pfffft! Lawyer!

I heard you can spell lawyer loyir now and it's OK. Same with juj and jooree.

Oh yeah PD, I almost forgot, since I'll probably never have the opportunity again:

I stand my contention that people say bold-faced when they mean bald-faced. When I use the term, I always mean the unscrupulous, unconcealed, uncovered definition shown above that is a descendant of barefaced.

You guys are all just full of piss and vinegar.

You know what pisses me off? When people say supposive when they mean supposed. But that's not what pisses me off. What pisses me off is supposive is actually a word, and they're using it properly. They just don't realize it. :x

But they do seem to mean two different things, though the difference is slight.

I must openly admit I'm biased toward bald-faced, as I shave my head clean every day.

Because when they decided that "bold-faced lie" was acceptable, they decided that "splitted" was proper English as well.

one time, i called that el_kabong out on synergy for saying...

thats a mute point.

he was mad that i pointed out a type. when that isnt a typo, thats not knowing the phrase, but trying to sound smart anyways.
since that time he has attempted to belittle every point i have to make, even by bringing up unrelated subjects- which, i have realized, simply boils down to the fact he wants to be able to smoke legally.
