Remains Identified As Missing Idaho Boy

2 hours, 4 minutes ago

Human remains found at a remote campsite in Montana last week have been identified as those of 9-year-old Dylan Groene, the Idaho boy who was kidnapped seven weeks ago, authorities said Sunday.

Kootenai County Sheriff Rocky Watson announced the finding in a short news release. The FBI lab in Quantico, Va., made the identification using DNA evidence. No other details were immediately available.

The identification ends any hope that Dylan might have been found alive, as his 8-year-old sister Shasta was a week ago.

The pair vanished in mid-May from the rural home near Coeur d'Alene where their mother, brother and mother's boyfriend were bound and bludgeoned to death.

Authorities believe the children were abducted by Joseph Edward Duncan III, a convicted sex offender, and spent time at the remote camp site in the Lolo National Forest where the remains were found.

Shasta was rescued July 2 after she was spotted with Duncan at a Coeur d'Alene restaurant a few miles from her mother's home. Information she provided, along with other evidence, led authorities to the campsite.

Duncan has only been charged with kidnapping the two children, but authorities have said they believe he also killed their mother, Brenda Kay Groene, 40; their brother, Slade Groene, 13; and the mother's boyfriend, Mark Edward McKenzie, 37.

Watson said Friday that the family appeared to have been chosen at random but that the attack was carefully planned and executed, possibly with the motive of abducting the young children for sex.

I can't argue against the death penalty on this one. It's quite clear this guy's evil incarnate. I only wish his suffering could match that of his victims before his life ends. Shit like this makes me just fucking hate this world.

We need to think of crueler methods of torture for people like this.

I'm perfectly happy with this demon being sealed in a box for the rest of his life.

Idaho's had only one execution since the death penalty was reinstated, and that was because the prisoner demanded that all his appeals be dropped.

I'm not saying execution won't be the end result--just a little fact I thought I'd throw out.

See, for him I say just put him in with the general population in the worst prison in the country. I'm sure the other inmates will find him "amusing".

Sick bastard, I wish they'd electrocute him anally, and slowly.

Why immediate death and torture? Put the AIDS virus in this guy and leave him to get buttfucked in a prison.

Is it about being a better human being and all, because honestly, for people like this guy, I'm fine with being a worse human being.

I'll take that bet. It's premeditated, kidnapping of 2 kids was involved and that alone carries the death penalty in ID. He's going to be charged with 6 murders, 2 kidnapping, multiple molestation, crossing state lines with kidnap victims, etc etc etc.
The community is going to go fucking nuts at this trial, they're going to have to move it to give him a chance at all. Not that he deserves one, but they're going to have a hell of a time finding impartial jurors there.

there's no way he'll be convicted of 6 murders, though

Doesn't have to be. Just has to be convicted of kidnapping and he gets gassed.
