So the story is that Israel gets weapons from us. Shocking!!!
In the eyes of the American Gov't and especially this admin., Israel can do no wrong.

I just thought that common knowledge would help people figure out that the USA most likely sends weapons to any allie with a check book.

This is a story?

I don't know which is less significant, the arms sale itself or the story about the arms sale.

On the surface it's a begign story, but if one examines parts of the article it is clear that there is information that tips off Hezbollah -

"But Israel’s request for expedited delivery of the satellite and laser-guided bombs was described as unusual by some military officers, and as an indication that Israel still had a long list of targets in Lebanon to strike."

- Thanks for letting the enemy know that Israel has more plans for airstrikes and, by releasing the type of armaments, what will be targeted.

"The new American arms shipment to Israel has not been announced publicly, and the officials who described the administration’s decision to rush the munitions to Israel would discuss it only after being promised anonymity."

- Well, I'm sure if the new arms shipment to Israel had not been announced publicly, it was because they wanted your paper to grab the exclusive, eh Times?

"Pentagon and military officials declined to describe in detail the size and contents of the shipment to Israel, and they would not say whether the munitions were being shipped by cargo aircraft or some other means. But an arms-sale package approved last year provides authority for Israel to purchase from the United States as many as 100 GBU-28’s, which are 5,000-pound laser-guided bombs intended to destroy concrete bunkers. The package also provides for selling satellite-guided munitions.

- Again, thanks for sharing that information with the enemy, Times.

Not to mention the fact that we are holding Syria and Iran accountable for supplying Hezbollah. It's great to know the Times splashed this story on their front page - that way Iran and Syria can accuse us of being hypocrites. That's not to say that it was generally known that we sold military arms and equiptment to Israel....but it only fuels the fire to announce this on the front page.

Another Pulitzer Prize for the Times!

Yes, it is "biased." However it is merely pointing out the liberal media machine. It is a bit different from smear sites such as "mediamatters," which takes quotes out of context and smears people.

I love that people think that groups like Hezbollah are completely clueless.

"oh shit, the Israelis want to attack us with things like bombs and rockets? WHO KNEW???"

You really think they're not fully aware of things like this?

<rude pundit mode on>Let's say, and why the hell not, that I had you locked in my basement fuckatorium. And let's also say, and truly, why the hell not, that I had you pantsless and bent over a wooden barrel with your hands cuffed to the sink pipe drain and your feet tied to anchors in the floor. Let's say also, that I had your ass all greased up with Crisco, since White Americans seem to really like Crisco for some God unknown reason.

If my rommate were to discover you down in the fuckatorium in this state and informed you that I was going to be coming back very soon , would you REALLY need him to tell you what I was about to stick into you and where, or do you think that at this point you'd be bright enough to have figured out my cunning plot?<rude pundit mode off>

When the terrorists find out that the United States supports Israel, they're totally going to wipe Jews off the map!!!

I understand where you are coming from, but it is an irrational comparison. Of course a person in the situation you described would know what's coming....it's another thing to make public that Israel is being supplied with bunker busters. It informs the terrorists that Israel is armed with a capability that it hadn't previously. Again, information such as this was not public knowledge until The New York Times printed it - it says that in the article. I'm just against informing the enemy of such information. I know there's the argument - the terrorists were already aware that Israel was being armed with bunker busters, that America was using bank data to track terrorists and so on.

The more times you say "New York Times" the dumber you sound.
