....but wins the electoral college, will this make him an illegitimate leader? Will there be anarchy in the streets?
Out of all the scenarios that happen, I would like to see none more than Bush WINNING the popular vote, but losing the electoral college, which means no more Bush for the next 4 years. I can think of no better justice, other than a Kerry landslide which is not likely.

I think if this happens again, things could get out of hand.
I had a dream about a month ago where Bush won like in 2000 (lost popular vote but won Electoral College) and civil war broke out. Then my boss and i had a shoot out with Bush supporters in the back warehouse of Shop n' Save (where we work). Then I had to go on some kind of quest to save all the goats that were still alive in So. Ill.

I don't really think it will be that big of a deal. It's happened before and it will happen again. That's the way it is, and politicians have shaped their campaigns around the current system forever. The current system is partially obsolete, but they're never going to change it.

I'm rooting for this scenario as well--not so much to spite Bush, but to spite the Electoral College in general.
How does this spite the electoral college? If anything, it reinforces the need for the system. Bush lost the popular vote in 2000, but have you ever looked at the red/blue map that shows that a solid majority of the STATES in this UNION supported the winner, which was proof positive that the electoral college works perfectly in this democratic REPUBLIC of our's?

Oh come on. Gore won by 500,000 votes in 2000. The clear majority of Americans voted for him instead of Bush.
I wish that guy who tried to run over Katherine Harris last week had thought of it 4 years ago.

500,000 equates to about 1 in 600 Americans... Still pretty close, as far as "majority" is concerned.

to all those who wish bush loses the election like gore did in 2000, will you bitch and moan about kerry stealing the election like you do bush, or will you be happy and say, now bush gets a taste of his own medicine?

yeah, that's a better number, it assumes that the non-voting population would have voted the same if they could/would have voted; instead of just assuming that nonvoters actually had no preference
good call

True, coming out at slightly more than 0.5%. Definately not a landslide, though.

Hmmm, maybe a little of both. I still think the electoral college sucks either way.

No. Why would it? It's the system we have. If Americans were that empassioned about it, we would have shown it already.
