Do you think that it will turn out to be the biggest election turnout in United States history?

I think it could turn out that way. Or at least be close to the 1992 election.

For absolute numbers, it will without a doubt be the largest turnout in US history. I'm not sure what the record percentage turnout is.

I think the percentage record was 1960. Meaning eligible registered voters vs. who showed up. Obviously in sheer numbers it was 1992, as the population has increased. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

That was my understanding as well, but I have as much data to back me up as you do.

The lines here in Wisconsin are crazy. I got to the poll 10 minutes before it opened and there were already 100 people in line.

Yup, me too. I got to the polls at 7:03 and the line was out the door. I finally left at 7:45 as voter number 75. That's 100 votes per hour, my ward has 1400 registered voters, polls are only open for 13 hours, and you can register at the polls on the day of the election in Wisconsin. You do the math. :?

Hopefully a lot of people voted early by absentee.

I'm not sure. you hear this every election cycle, and it never pans out. I'll believe it when I see it.

I do know that early voting hit record numbers in some spots, if that means anything.

92 there were about 104 million votes cast. About the same in 2000, but much fewer in 96.

I would imagine that the highest percentages in history would be soon after the country was founded. Too bad figures don't exist that far back.

I heard on the news that 1968 had the highest percentage of turnout.

Actually I don't think that would be the case. Only white rich land owners were allowed to vote then. Slaves, Blacks, Indentured servants, poor, women, and anyone who didn't own land among others were not allowed to vote then.
