Why are we all sheeple? We are all smart people(relatively speaking) right?
Why do we continue to give the big middle finger to the environment? Why do we continue to let the gov't sell our health out to energy companies?
When are we going to demand that we change our habits?

i guess I would like to know where everyon on this board stands. If the gov't asked you to stop driving your gas guzzler, and they offer a tax deductable switch to Natural Gas or Electric who would volunteer?

I stopped driving the gas guzzler long ago, and I don't think it would take much of a nudge for me to switch to a natural gas or electric powered vehicle. I do fear that I'm in a fairly small minority, however, considering I already conserve fuel as best I can and try to eliminate the excess consumption of most resources.

Why am I such a honky?
Why do I like that f**king chonky?
So no matter what affect we were having on future generations? What about conversion kits for your exsisting care?
I have no issue with electric cars. I don't need to go faster than 70, and I have no love for oil companies. I do care about my safety and the safety of my passengers more than I care about my children's children's children's children's environment.

I'm huge on the environment, but until the prices of some of the electric or alternative fuel soured cars come down, I'm not lining up to buy one. And, as BI said, I just don't feel very safe in the models they currently have out. Plus, I hardly ever drive to begin with -- I use public transportation. I, however, hope that the rising price of gasoline acts as a deterrent to some of the people that needlessly buy their goliath, gas guzzling SUVs and then turn around and bitch about the price of gas.

I got rid of my gas guzzler last year, but i don't feel a tax deductible would sway me to getting a new alternative vehicle, mostly because unless they are going to pay for it ALL, i'm not in a financial position to purchase a brand new vehicle.

i drive a hummer and i try to drive it at least 100 miles a day because i love the sound of gas burning as i roll on down the road.
but seriously, i drive a small 4-cylinder truck that gets excellent gas mileage. my dad wants to buy my sister a hybrid as her car.
i would drive a straight electric if my battery lasted for at least 48 hours or so. and i don't know about natural gas. my dad is in the oil business and doesnt' like it, but that's for a reason.

yeah, 1yr ago my parents who are retired were looking for a hybrid. They couldn't even find one to test drive and the waiting lists were insane. The price at that time for a Prius was around 24000 max. 1 year later that were looking at the prius again. The price was now 29000 non-neg.

That's interesting. I would expect a hybrid or electric car to be like any other depreciable asset -- once the popularity increases and more manufacturers enter the field, the price comes down (like plasma tvs). Also, even if I bought one, I would have no idea where to plug it in (I know that sounds stupid, but I'm completely ignorant when it comes to that sort of thing).

Well the trick was that they put in this gps navigation system, so now they can justify the price. What the fuck do my retired parents need a gps system for. They just want to save money. Bottom line they didn't get the car.

Im really thinking about getting a motorcycle. Not a big loud harley or race bike, but a sensible one. Ive read that some can get 80 mpg.

as long as the car was just as safe as our conventional gas-powered cars then i would switch in an instant.
