So, does this mean the federal government should mobilize 100,000 volunteers and start food drops and evacuations?

Does this mean some asshole will pretend like someone called for federal assistance due to a minor tropical depression?

Are they talking about the storm forming on the coast of Florida, or the one that you can barely see off the map to the East?

That, my friend, is EXACTLY how Katrina started.

They are saying it will go more North compared to Kartrina, but they are saying there is also a possiblity that it could end up in the Gulf again.

I think it is more of the relative lack of storms in recent years. What was it, like 95 where we had a ton of them. We have been really lucky in the past few years, and they have been talking about how we were going to get hit with a bad season soon.

Somewhere in the huge Katrina thread, I pulled out stats on the past six years. There have been no less than 12 named storms in any of those years, the max being 16 in 2003. Ophelia makes 15, and we're just past the halfway point of the season.

I also posted stats from a slow period in the late 70's where the most for a five year period was 11 named storms.
