Well on the bright side, lots of help for animals is there though apparently...who knows, maybe that dog will even get picked up or was going to be. Still pisses me off though, as if there was no room in the boat, assholes.

This has nothing to do with a family pet but more of a zoo animal.
CNN showed a seal that had been stranded in the streets with this woman pouring water over it in hopes that it would survive. The seal was alive, but CNN reported later that the police put two bullets in it's head.
Damn, it was sad...this whole situation is fuckin sad.
This is so unbelievably sad. I read a story yesterday where they were interviewing a woman that had taken one of the buses to Houston. She said that on the bus was a 6 year old that cried so hard he vomited because they refused to let the family dog, snowball, get on the bus with them.
I don't care what my orders were - I'd get people's pets too.

That depends - was there some circumstance that kept these people from leaving when they had plenty of warning, or are these people that just decided to take their chances?
Sure, it sounds harsh, but pets didn't have a choice, they did what their owners did, and they shouldn't have to suffer and starve to death or drown because of it.

Oh I was just wondering whether you value human life over animal life in all situations as a lot of people do. I really don't know the conditions on the buses, so I can't comment.
It also seems like some animals would have an easier time getting away than humans, like strong dogs.

It isn't so much a question of valuing human life over animal life. It's just that I'd have an extremely hard time pulling away on that boat while that dog just stayed on that roof waiting to die knowing that the moron I just saved could have prevented all of it.
Yes, at that point, anyone that stays behind would earn the term moron because they get to know that their dog, who did nothing but love them, is going to die because they didn't feel like leaving town.
