SO im watching the news. and they interviewed a bush supporter in the democracy plaza audience thing...

what?!?!?!? did you really vote like that. geezes. that scares me. NOT EVERYONE IS LIKE THAT I KNOW. but this guy scares me.

ALso, my biggest fear for the next 4 years and who knows how much longer...
i BELIEVE, IN MY OPINION...the country is being overrun by religious nutjobs. honestly, people are voting on faith, and religious values (thats fine, its their life) but that is not the way the country should be ran, religion and state are being mixed..gay marriage, abortion etc...moral values, religion, faith in god. god speaking to bush , born again...its too much. its dangerous. thats why the middle east is so fucked up. religion.

The states are just like them, except white and with the same or less intelligence. Call them odd over seas but can't see it in your own backyard. Plus you fanatics have better weapons which is worse.

This type of thread... with misguided attacks directed at people of faith is exactly why the democrats lost in pretty much everything last night and two years ago (senate ect.).

Keep them coming though... Republicans will just keep winning.

If Democrats are smart they will re-evaluate where they stand on some moral issues in the next few elections.

There are PLENTY of immoral things about the way the current administration runs things, fundamental things that are basicly immoral.

The only thing that makes me more nuts than the fact that 22% of people voted based on "moral values" (i.e. things that politicians can't actually DO anything about), is the fact that 85% of those people think that Bush is a more moral person than Kerry.

Why don't we have Karl Rove teach morals and ethics to our children. I'm sure they'll end up being lovely little anti-Christs.

Here's a thought that I'm sure none of you thought of - not everyone that voted for Bush is a "religious nutjob" (interesting, do you refer to the extremists in the Middle East this way?) - Some people geniunely disliked Kerry and his policies. You know, "Anybody but Bush" except these people's slogans were "Anybody but Kerry".

Hmm well I think it's safe to say that it depends where they are from, and perhaps I'm wrong but I think it was the religous fundamentalist vote that was very decisive voting block, don't you think? And yes I believe that that extremists in the middle east are religious nut-jobs, to the highest degree imaginable. Such ridiculous worldviews breeding such hate and disregard for life and well-being, born out of utter rubbish and fairy tales. And while you're quick to jump the gun on 62strat on if he would feel the same towards muslims, he stated in the original post that this is one of the things that he believes makes the middle east "so fucked up".

But I think there's something wrong when there are still a number of people in your country who buy into such fraudulent and debunked notions as "creation science" and the like, and worrying about gay issues, etc, and take these personal ideas as natural laws and attempting to apply them to humanity as a whole. These ideas aren't even universal within Christianity, let alone humanity or the natural world. Perhaps it's a great many of the populace who should reconsider where they stand on such things, not merely democrats--because as it always has and always will, science and facts always win in the end over such religious notions. But there is a significant population in USA who might state that "science, logic, and reason" are "false idols", so it's a long and uphill battle once in a while.
