This is the kind of stuff that drives me absolutely crazy

The woman kidnapped by the Atlanta Courthouse Murderer credits Jesus with saving her life and the life of the Murderer. So far I've seen Rev. Fartwell come out and praise her and Christ for interveining in her life and saving it. Well isnt' that special!

Good job Christ! Way to go! Oh wait, we forgot there's three people dead.

So was Jesus asleep at the wheel? Maybe it's a long way from heaven and he was running late?

I have no problem with someone believing that God touched their lives. Personally I think it's a crock of crap but to each his own. What I do have a problem with is crediting God with saving you but ignoring the fact that God did not stop him from killing 3 people. Ms. Smith obviously did a great thing by convincing this guy to turn himself in but lets not ignore what happened. This piece of scum killed 3 people and there was no Jesus there for the three people that day. I'm real glad so many people find Jesus in their life just not when it counts.

Whatever she believes in, she has that right. Jesus Christ or not.

She seems to be a very stong person with everything she's gone thru. Losing her husabnd in a stabbing and him dying in her arms. I do consider her a hero. And I think the faith she has helped her get thru with this ordeal.

I'm more likely to understand someone saying Jesus helped me through this terrible situation than I am of someone saying, thanks to Jesus for letting me win a football game. So yeah.

yeah she's had a rough life no doubt.

I guess God figured that she'd had enough trouble for one lifetime and spared her this time around. Too bad for the judge though and the other officer, they must've deserved it.

None of the victims desrved to be killed as far I as know.

I think her faith pulled her thru. With the help of a higher power?....Maybe/maybe not. I don't have alot of faith in my life, so i can sit here and judge her about her faith. But if that's what she believes, that's cool with me.

I think there is a big difference between saying that God helped you through a difficult situation and saying that God allowed you to live while others died. Of course, whenever a good person dies, people say that God wanted that person to be with Him in heaven, so maybe people who live through traumas like that ought to question why God didn't want them.

I'm not saying I don't feel for the tragedy that she and others have gone through and how they may turn to God in times of trouble, but to draw attention to their attempts to explain events as being the result of choices and intereventions by God and/or Jesus.

right, what I wonder is why NOBODY ever questions why 3 people had to die in order for Jesus to help her out. It just doesn't make sense to me to say, "God put me there to help this man and Jesus saved me" and not also question why Jesus didn't help anyone else out?

Well, being raised in a Christian hosehold there's the people that believe that they are here on Earth until God is ready for them to come "home". And saying that, maybe God wasn't ready for Ashley to come home. But God was ready for the victims that were killed.

Like I said it's a strong faith to have. It's hard for me cause I have questions.

Well I was raised Catholic and it's a bit more than questions. I was considered a trouble maker because I wouldn't stop asking questions.

I know it's not as warm and fuzzy but I think people should realize that shit happens because it does. There's no plan no reason to it all.

That's your belief, and just as I don't think Christians ought to push their beliefs on people, I don't think it's your place to say something like that, as if your belief system is the right one. Live and let live.

She didn't say her belief will help everyone get thru hard times. She didn't say everyone should believe what she does. She just said that her belief and faith got her thru.

Now on the other hand. I do agree with Gogol about Reverends, Preachers, and other religous leaders cheering her on in front of the camera on news televisions. They do have that right I guess. But I kind of thinks it's in abd taste. Cause there's alot of people who think different.

I understand that. Nowhere did I say otherwise.

Who knows, maybe there's no such thing as Jesus, but this gal was a hell of a lot braver than I'll ever be.

She also seems to be quite humble and forgiving, maybe she is a Christian.

Anyone think there is a racial element to the media frenzy?Fox News sloberring over the "angel" all day, while showing the pics of the angry black guy.

at the same time, the shooting at the church is completely ignored.

if the shooter was a white guy and the girl was black, would there be such a "touching, moving" story?

I don't see that really. I usually hear about both in a newscast. Just the ATL thing comes first and the church second. I supposed b/c the fugitive running loose is more random and scary than the nut in a single room.

I don't think there's a racial thing either. I think the key is that Ashley is well composed and well spoken and sounds good on the news. If a similarly educated black woman had talked a white fugitive into giving up, I THINK they would be doing this the same way.
