School Expels Girl for Having Gay Parents Sep 23 7:05 AM US/Eastern
ONTARIO, Calif.
A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.
Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.
Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.
Stob could not be reached for comment by the newspaper. Shay and her parents said they won't fight the ruling.
School administrators learned of the parents' relationship this week after Shay was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.
Clark and her partner have been together 22 years and have two other daughters, ages 9 and 19.
And what is that saying that "christians" like to say... Hate the Sin, Love the Sinner? That is bullshit and always will be.
And you can also argue, private school, they can do what they want. Fine. But to me it is only a mantra they will hide behind to hide their hate filled, bigoted, and very un-Christ like actions.

Its a private school, I guess they are entitled to do whatever the hell they want. It just pisses me off that so many Christians downplay certain sins, such as lying, and regard homosexuality as the ultimate sin or above all sins. It goes against everything in the Bible. Why arent they kicking kids out of school who have parents that lie, or parents that have been caught cheating, or lusting, or gambling?
And you wonder why people like me dont go to church.

Isn't the only reference in the bible regarding homosexuality phrased a "a man shall not lie with another man" or something like that? It says nothing about women lying with other women, so what's the big deal? Christianity should be cool with lesbians.
Seriously though, why is homosexuality such a hot topic with Christians now days? For Christ's sake, you'd think it was the most important of the ten commandments. Oh wait, it's not even one of the ten commandments. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, homosexuality is only mentioned one time in the whole damn bible (somewhere in the old testament). But yet some Christians act as though Jesus's most important message was "being gay is a sin". And I don't even know if Jesus once spoke about homosexuality.
If Christians keep this shit up, catholocism isn't the only branch of christianity that will be rendered obsolete.

Jesus didn't mention homosexuality at all. Paul said something to the effect of "man shall not lay with another man." As far as I know, thats the only mention of it in the Bible.

This is the only sentence in this entire thread that matters.
Or would be, if the discussion here was whether or not they were within their rights to do so.
My hat is thrown in with the people who do not understand the Christian obsession with homosexuality. Compared to what would be considered some of the much larger sins being committed every day, you'd think they'd be worried about how they can do good with the collective resources at their muster rather than alienate a portion of the people who provide those resources.

Fuck intolerance.
isnt it intolerent of YOU to say that? You're saying fuck you to people for believing something different then you do.
No he's not. He's saying "fuck intolerance." It would be different if he had said "Fuck these people, they're intolerant douchebags." But he simply said "fuck intolerance" as an idea. The fact that they're demonstrating intolerance with this rule is what inspired the comment, but he's still only saying "fuck intolerance" as a concept.

Fair enough. Nothing too wrong with that.
One thing though. I more or less like youse all. But I don't know any of your parents. Would they piss me off because of whatever reason? If so, you're outta here. Bugger off.
As ridiculous as it is for the school to have expelled the girl for this, I can't help but wonder why two lesbians would enroll their child in a school where they know their child will be taught that what the parents are doing is a sin and that they'll burn in hell for it.
I know it doesn't matter and people should be able to send their child to whatever school they choose, but honestly, that's the first thing I thought of.

What if it was a good school? A much better school than the public school? To me, it shouldn't matter what the parent's sexual orientation is. This is about the freakin' kid. If anybody wants to pay to have a kid sent to a school for a better education, then the kid should get it. It's the kid that matters here. Not her parents.
This is kinda strange, because most parochial schools are so starved for money that they'll allow anybody to attend their school, so long as they fork over the check.

You're joking right? It's not extremist Islam. It's not drugs. It's not STD's. It's CERTIANLY not abortions. It's not the total breakdown of family units. It's Christianity? A girl getting kicked out of a school, to you, shows you that Christianity is the cancer of the western world? There's been some loony statements that have come out of this form, but that is so off the wall.
First of all. That is not Christianity coming forth from this school. That's intolerance. You're blind hatred for all things Christian must somehow keep you from realizing that. How you can brand an entire religion, that mostly very good, and turn into CANCER from something like this is beyond me. These people are misguided, and not adhering to the faith,

Good Point. It also mentions it Specifically in the school policy that presumably they had to sign, or at least read, before they could enroll their child.
"immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship"
I wonder if the school has expelled any children for the first part of the policy regarding unwed cohabitation, if they have, then i see no intolerence here.
Im also curious as to what the student was saying when "talking to the crowd at a football game".

You know, i kinda agree with you on this one.
Darrins problems appear to be more with the rules and policies of the church as opposed to the actual spirit of christianity.
