Today I just snapped. This hardcore republican I know, whom I have been politically debating back and forth with for the last 6 months came up to me today outside the grocery store and just started talking shit.
I warned him that he better shut the hell up or else, but he just kept at it and at it.
The final straw was when he said, "why don't you go cry on Michael Moore's shoulder."
That did it. I just rared back and hit him smack in the nose, and returned that with an uppercut, followed by a karate type style kick to the side of his head (I dont know where that came from) After that he hit the ground and was pretty much stunned, from what my friend said who wittnessed it all. My friend more less kept me from jumping on him and beating him more.
Was this the right thing to do? No. I hadnt been in a fight since 10th grade, almost 12 years ago. I'll tell you what though, it felt damn good. As much as I am a peace loving man, I had so much energy and hate built up inside me it was bound to happen.
I recommend to anyone out there as angry and pissed off at this country as I am to go beat a republican's ass. You might get in trouble, even have to spend a little time in jail, but it does offer some gratification that could help a lot of Bush haters like me out right now.

This was my attempt earlier today to try and bridge the gap that exists in this country. I wish everyone would just try a little harder:

If this country is ever going to unite and work together to solve the huge problems it's facing, both sides are going to have to give a little. A good place to start might be not acting like you singlehandedly got GWB elected. Most of us that supported Kerry are over it now, but you're still here, acting like a dick. How about YOU move on, and start worrying about all the things in this country that need fixing? None of the problems that we face vanished overnight after the election. Otherwise, we can continue to be a divided country, with each side hating the other. Is that really what we all want? At the end of the day, we're all Americans. Let's start acting like it. No American should be forced to surrender their ideals and beliefs at the hands of another.
I'll readily admit that I've said plenty of inflammatory things here over the last couple of days, but I'm over it now. I don't want my kids growing up in an environment of "us vs. them."

wait ... you mean sometimes it's OK to fight for what you believe in? Shocking, coming from the left ...
shouldn't you have called on a committee of all your friends and allies, and discussed what to do for years on end? Maybe you could have applied sanctions on your tormentor. Or maybe you could have let him off with a more stern warning.
but to smack someone upside the head unilaterally ... tsk, tsk

Nah, I doubt a liberal has ever kicked a conservatives ass but good try.

Some of my best friends have politcal views that range all over the spectrum, but we all get along just fine. Resorting to violence to spread your belief is not the solution for you or Bush.

Well the story isn't even believable, but I guess it is better for people like this to use their imagination, then to actually do something stupid. Though the whole kicking thing sounds like it could be true.

i've always thought a liberal was more apt to scratch, pull hair and attack with panty-waist, open-fisted slaps.

Weird story. The last straw was him telling you to cry on Moore's shoulder? That sounds like a good joke to me, not anything that would result in a fistfight. A political debate can get heated at times but that story is a bit out there. Most of my friends are republicans and we get into all sorts of insane banter but i don't hold it against them and I would never punch them because they made a witty retort. My friend came over last night and rubbed it in about the election. Then we cracked open some beers and made fun of each other. it isn't that big of a deal

I agree, but when someone gets right in your face like that to gloat, thats a totally diffferent story. I did not instigate anything, nor would I ever. I gave him proper warning and he still persisted.
No Im not recommending beating anyone's ass. That was just a little humor

I think everyone will be ok. Just a little bit of post election catfighting.
Well, let's hope that ends sooner rather than later. Let's not forget that our soldiers are fighting and dying overseas. Maybe we need to put this childish bullshit behind us and start working together.

Oops.

Very good point. We have some people that are so angry that they don't know what to do next, and some people who are happy to gloat and make things worse. Everyone will move on hopefully sooner then later.
