I have no idea what forum this needs to go into but I just have a few questions. From Dec. of last year unitl May of 05 I was using an online torrent site to download movies (not porn). I quit doing it in May because I got a netflix account. I recieved a letter in the mail saying that Lions Gate is requesting my personal information from Verizon Broadband and in 21 days they will give it to them. This was a subpena (don't know if I spelled that right) so its serious. Just curious if any of you other guys have recieved anything like this and if so what came of it or what do you think will come of it. If this needs to be in Arts and Entertainment forum please move.

how many movies did you download? are we talking a small handful or an entire movie collection? i think it would probably be better for you if you'd only downloaded a few movies rather than fifty.
did you download them, watch them and then delete them / buy them if you liked them or did you leave them on your computer / burn them to disc? i think it looks better if you downloaded them, watched them and got rid of them like a rental than it is if you downloaded them and built up a collection of dvds. of course, it's probably going to be quite hard to prove what you actually did with your downloads.
did you only download lion's gate movies? i don't really know how these things work, but i find it safe to assume that if lion's gate found out about your downloading, the other movie companies have found out about your downloading. i'd be on the lookout for other letters.

go and buy all of teh movies you downloaded and say you just wanted them on your computer....if this is anything like ROMS this might help your case to show you arent actually "stealing"

Its funny. I know a lot of people personally that went to this site as well and downloaded a shit load more movies than me and have never recieved a letter.
The movies never stayed on my hard drive more than a day or two and a few were burned to disc. Who knows, I'm kinda freakin right now though.

How many movies are we talking about?
I guess somewhere in the teens maybe close to twenty. Don't really remember for sure.
