For my yearbook, I was looking to quote a bunch of songs for the final page since that would tie in thematically with the rest of the book. Is there a limit on how much can be quoted from each song? Am I even allowed to quote from songs? And, if I do quote, do I need to give some kind of credit to the artists?
I'm gonna run this buy our school's lawyer sometime next week, but I wanted to know if I should even bother with this idea now. Thanks

I think it is worth running by someone.. i know my high school yearbook had the phrase, "what a long strange trip its been" on the cover, and i don't recall seeing any copyright info. I think song or movie quotes give the yearbook a very nice touch, so i hope you talk to someone, keep us updated.

Every section is titled after a song, so I basically went with that idea. Since it's the 50th yearbook (golden anniversary), my idea was to have the title of the book be "Certified Gold."

I think copyright laws are a little different for educational purposes. Meaning that they are not as strict
Yearbooks aren't educational. Most publishers will let any of their material be reproduced in sections, etc, but at a price. Schools don't get that shit for free, I used to work with a bookshop that had to put together coursepacks/course readers and copyright permissions ain't free.
