i'm gonna start memorizing that then quoting it to all my friends, and we'll all have a good laugh, except the jewish girl (at least the christians get the part of the bible where god was nice and cuddly). and then we'll talk about how "it's just life" and "we're one day closer to the apocalypse" and then black out and pass out at my computer desk listening to drone.

Holes everywhere. I still can't believe people don't bother to crack open a book to discover what the third commandment talks about. It's why they crucified Christ!

I kind of like the updated Jesus Commandments better. Even as an Atheist I can get behind half of the (2) commandments he came up with. Love your neighbor as you love yourself, sounds good to me.

Vengeance is a bitter pill and it poisons the character, to be hyperbolic about it.

Yeah that was an excellent post.

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my Commandments."
haha, that's mighty specific of his highness. how does he keep track?! oh wait, he's GOD!

You just don't understand, Schoolboy. Dig a bit deeper and suddenly the Ten Commandments are worthy of respect. They might even prove the existence of God.

-- is anyone that believes in the bible sensical enough to know noah's ark isn't really feasible?
Yes. Similarly with the Exodus story: 'The Red Sea' is actually a mistranslation of 'The Sea of Reeds', which was the nickname of a lake.

There are many interpretations you could have, but that's one of them, yes.

Again, none of these stories have a single interpretation, but this is one of them, and a reasonable one. Yes. 'The Satan' of the Old Testament is not the same as 'Satan', the evil being of the New Testament.

Yes. It's commonly accepted in Christianity that the creation myth is allegorical. I don't know anyone, Christian or otherwise, who believes the earth to be 10,000 years old. Science is right on that one. The Creation story is usually read as allegorical, and the '7 Days' read as 'several ages', ie. 'however long it took.'

Not quite that. But misunderstandings need to be addressed, no?
