ABC Radio has locked in its crown jewel. Looking to protect its turf against fast-rising challenger Fox News, radio syndication giant ABC has quietly signed conservative talk show host Sean Hannity to a new contract.

That will keep him talking for ABC for the next five years, sources told the Daily News.

Hannity - the second most popular talk show host on the radio behind Rush Limbaugh, according to Talkers magazine - is getting about $25 million over five years, sources said.

Syndicated radio leader ABC inked the Hannity contract several months ago but has kept the deal hush-hush. ABC faces a big threat from Fox News, which is capitalizing on its cable TV dominance to expand on the radio.

Fox News TV program "Hannity & Colmes" is the second-highest rated show on cable news overall. Hannity would have been an obvious target for Fox radio.

Fox is a relative newcomer to the radio dial. But it scored a victory earlier this week, striking an agreement to provide news to as many as 172 Clear Channel stations, most of which are ABC stations.

But ABC execs note that even if all those stations drop ABC, the network will still have more than 2300 news affiliates.

Hannity made his name on the radio at New York's WABC-AM - and helped it become the most listened to news/talk station in the country.

When asked about his ABC deal yesterday, Hannity told The News, "I don't talk about my contracts." But he said, he's "very happy with ABC and with the Fox News Channel."

Sean Hannity is hardcore right. That's alright, not my thing. Anyway, I was watching Hannity and Colmes just for the hell of it. Colmes is getting some respect tonight.

Anyway, I figure what Hannity was talking about tonight will tantamount to this someday:

Son: "Mom, I couldn't get accepted to Harvard, Yale, or any of those great Ivy League schools I heard about. I applied to all of them and I have a 4.0 GPA. And I did alright on the SAT, with 1040."

Mom:"Well, son, that's great and all, but what made you who you are?"

Son: "Well, I learned in school that God made everything. And God is good and God is great. Awesome God!"

Keep in mind, that I profess Christian faith, but I just wonder what will happen exactly when people get their way and consideration of public schools are the past. Sure, there are schools better than public schools. But it seems to me that the hardcore, religious right of the Christian faith can't accept small steps at converting others. Hence, they get all flustered and frustrated as courts and cases get made up about how far "God" is covered in school. They seem to forget that it is testimony and life experience that has the greatest effect in converting people to my religion.

I thought God loved all and accepted them, even as they don't accept Him? Why can't His people do the same? Why would God want war of idealogies ruining curriculum and dumbing things down and making things more like a Catholic high school everywhere? Is this really necessary?

I just wonder what Sean Hannity will complain about when he does get his way. I guess they'll always complain about people having different opinions instead of theirs.

Sean Hannity is a pig

I watched the other day and he was talking with a guy trying to take under god out of the pledge and another guy who was an atheist and was a complete ass to them. Also they had the audience loaded with Christians and they were booing the Atheist and the other guy and they really didn't say anything shocking or bad. I felt bad for the guys because they never got a chance to truly get their viewpoints across. It made me mad so I switched it to South Park.

Ugh, so trashy. Sean Hannity is your typical, right-wing macho, mysoginistic piece of crap who likes to push all his views on everybody else. He's complete white trash, and so are the people who watch his program.

Oh yea, and Colmes is a douchebag. Any self-respecting individual would stand up to that waste of flesh who does the show with him.

However (and not to derail), "Under God" needs to remain in the pledge, not for religious reasons, but simply for the sake of tradition and the rhythmn of the pledge itself. Any one can choose to not say "under God" if they wish, or for that matter, the pledge itself.

The Pledge actually went on for a good 60 years or so without the words "Under God". It was added in 1954 by Congress to distinguish this country from those damn Godless communists. Ironically enough, the man who wrote the pledge was a socialist minister.

Anyway, to get back on topic:

Yeah, again not to derail but the man who wrote the pledge never intended for under god to be in it. You can thank good old McCarthyism for that.

I stand defeated. I still think isn't anything to go to court over though; just treat it as a quaint touch or something to be ignored. depending on how you feel.

Back on topic: Hannity is not only a jackass, but a jackass without humor or charisma. This is unforgivable.

Actually, I disagree. In very small doses, I can find Hannity quite pathetically amusing. And Hannity has a lot of charisma--but that means nothing to me.

I don't think I've agreed with Hannity one time. Where other conservative news or radio announcers I've at least found something in an arguement I can relate to. He offers no vision to see another viewpoint which turns me off from wanting to hear more of him. I watch him every now and again because I like the subject being discussed but never enjoy the way it is presented.
