1. Because too many people are willing to resort to war, and not enough people fully grasp the hell that is war.
4. In several places around the world, within sovereign nations that may be friendly or unfriendly to us.
5. There should not be a dialogue with the enemy, but certainly one with the countries where the enemy is within to assist the capture of the enemy--to help prevent making even more enemies.
2 and 3 are going to require deeper thought that I don't have time for right now.
1. Why are we living with war today? 2. Who is the enemy? 3. Why did our enemy attack us? 4. Where is the enemy? 5. Should we have a dialogue with the enemy?
1. Because we suffered the worst attack since Pearl Harbor on 9/11/01 and our President decided it was best to go on the offensive instead of sticking his head in the sand as a prior President had chosen to do.
2. IslamoFascists.
3. Because they seek to establish what they call the "Great Caliphate" and the freedoms we enjoy do not adhere to this doctrine.
4. Scattered across the globe.
5. No, because terrorists are irrational and cannot be reasoned with.
Neil is probably among the foremost of that select set of artists for whom whim and feel are the only guides, and as such he has developed one of the most remarkable bodies of music in all of history.
However, on politics he is generally better and more successful at using said music than he is in expressing himself otherwise.

5.Abso-fucking-lutely. How can we possibly legitimize war against an enemy if it is not the absolute last choice? And how can it be the last choice if we have not tried to engage in direct talks with them, whether it helps at all or not. We must at least try to solve problems without force before we start to use force.

My questions to Neil:
1. Do you understand the concept of nation states? good!
2. Do you understand that militant groups can act as a state within a state?
3. Do you recognize the fact that there are extremists that will not accept compromise?
4. Do you believe that the Hezbos are in fact the Iranian army?
5. Do you believe Ahminajad and the Hezbos when they say they don't wat Israel to exist?
6. Why do you like to generate questions based on the concept of nation states but fail to hold these nations and their people accountable (unless it's the dumb southerners of the U.S. of course) for their actions when they turn to non-nation state militants?
7. Do you believe that George Bush is more of a threat to world stability than the Hezbos, Ahminajad, Kim jong ill, etc?
8. Not a question, more of some advice. just shut up and sing. you really aren't that smart.

True, but being Canadian doesn't excuse someone from being inarticulate. I've never been so embarrassed to be a PJ fan as I was after that VH1 thing. Seriously, Dominik Hasek is more coherent. There's nothing I despise more than arrogant celebrities talking down to me,...suggesting I need to be enlightened, suggesting I'm not as informed as they are. These people live in a bubble. I watch Bruce, Eddie, and Neil...and want them to make a point, but they never do. They really aren't that smart. They talk in vagaries about the truth? What truth? Their distorted, miserable, pessimistic view of the "truth?" Again, I wish they would just shut up and sing, that's what they do well.

I'd rather have celebrities and artists and musicians speaking for my side than Evangelicals and former marines.

I would prefer to have neither. I would prefer people to actually articulate sensible positions and opinions. I don't think any of the above groups do so when speaking.

Anybody can be articulate, your job doesnt force you to be articulate or to not be articulate. I think everyone should be talking about what they think is best way to do things, coherent or not. Just try to say something meaningful.

What the fuck?
This ISN'T about Neil Young, just answer the fucking questions, if you can. The questions insinuate NOTHING. They are completely open-ended and available for answers both supporting and condemning the current policies.
The fact that you an't answer the questions without attacking the questioner shows that you have no fucking idea what you're doing or what you really stand for. Either that, or when you start to write the talking points down on paper next to one another, you find that they are completely internally inconsistent.

These were my gut responses. I'm not even sure if believe them, to tell you the truth; it's just how I reacted from a big-picture standpoint.
1. Because we were sold a lie and the majority of us bought it.
2. My first reaction is to say those who attack and kill to cause terror. But I believe our true enemy is fear, and a face has been given to that fear by the powers that be.
3. To cause terror. They are succeeding, and our government is helping them to succeed by keeping us in fear.
4. I don’t know. Everywhere? Nowhere? In ourselves, perhaps? Ignorance and blind faith/patriotism can be our enemy as much as any physical threat.
5. I honestly don’t know if it will solve anything. It seems difficult to have a dialogue with a person that holds true to an ideal and is willing to kill and die for it himself. I think it’s more important to have a dialogue with ourselves, so to speak. To educate ourselves to truly understand the cultural and religious differences between us and the regions that seem to breed the kind of ideology we’re up against.

Why are we living with war today? because there are people out there with even less scruples then people think bush has, and those people will not rest until america is completely out of the middle east 2. Who is the enemy? islamist facists, but not all of them, just a radical sect that are willing to blow not only themselves up for their cause, but also innocent civillians who want nothing more than to go on with their lives 3. Why did our enemy attack us? i dont think anyone will know the true answer. it is said because america has a presence in the middle east, but we were also invited there, so im confused 4. Where is the enemy? in the hearts and minds of said fundamentalists 5. Should we have a dialogue with the enemy? to a point, but at the same time, as they are talking they are running behind you to stab you in the back or blow up your school. normally i would say never negotiate with a terrorist or terrorist organization Send your answers to: leaders@lwwtoday.com Please give us your name and location.
