This is a pretty interesting documentary from HBO about Barry Goldwater; it was produced by his granddaughter CC Goldwater. I was glad to see it, Goldwater is one these guys that I hear mentioned a lot but I never knew much about him. I've heard people be described as a "Goldwater Conservative" but I was never sure what that meant, also I’m still not sure what a "Reagan Democrat" is either, but that's a topic for another thread.
In the doc. a lot people were saying that today Goldwater would be considered a liberal because of his views on the Religious Right, and being pro-choice and pro-Gays in the Military. Personally I would still think him Conservative. I'm curious to what others think about Goldwater, particularly some of our young Conservatives.
Personally I like the guy, I may not agree with him about everything, but I can certainly respect the guy.

My impression of Goldwater is that he was the prototype of the conservative half of libertarianism. Small government, individual rights over the interests of "society", anti-welfare.
I'll agree, you have to respect the man for his consistency of thought.
