"You know education...if you make the most of it...you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart....you...you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
So what he's saying is if you don't make an effort to "be smart" you'll end up dumb, like the soldiers in Iraq. Nice thing to say about the men and women who are protecting us from terror. Is there no ground floor that this scumbag's rhetorical elevator reaches? Remember his infamous "our soldiers are terrorizing Iraqi women and children in the dead of night" speech? Sickening.
I guess poor people who join the military to get money for college simply didn't study hard enough. Or maybe they should ahve married a billionairess.
Don't these Dems realizes they are just pissing off the Republican base and are endangering their election chances? Just shut up and let the Repub's stupidity guide them to a much needed victory. Don't spoil it by opening your mouth.
Senator John McCain calls on Kerry to Apologize -
(credit: DrudgeReport.com)
"Senator Kerry owes an apology to the many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country's call because they are patriots and not because of any deficiencies in their education. Americans from all backgrounds, well off and less fortunate, with high school diplomas and graduate degrees, take seriously their duty to our country, and risk their lives today to defend the rest of us in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.
They all deserve our respect and deepest gratitude for their service. The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq, is an insult to every soldier serving in combat, and should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night. Without them, we wouldn't live in a country where people securely possess all their God-given rights, including the right to express insensitive, ill-considered and uninformed remarks."

Yeah, just poor, dumb people join the military...or so the Democrats would have you believe. Unreal. You can disagree with the WorldWide War on Terror, but at least show some respect for our military and the men and women who volunteer for it.
If Kerry was dying of thirst I wouldn't piss in his mouth.

Yeah, but he was obviously campaigning for someone. This was a stupid thing to say at this point. Hopefully voters will only hold it against Kerry.

I think this also begs the question, who gives a fuck what John Kerry has to say about anything? He was unable to defeat GW Bush; at that point he becomes politically bankrupt to anyone paying attention.

I'm guessing at least 50% of the soldiers in the armed forces would be smart enough to have someone proof their speech when stumping for a candidate one week prior to an election.

LW, thanks for that stirring insight into the topic at hand. I'll reiterate, if someone is on the fence about who they are voting for and decides to not vote for a dem because of something John Kerry said at a stump speech, then that person raises the question of whether they are intelligent enough to be truly deserving of the right to vote. Nice job LW and LF with the little negative b.s. soundbites you guys are digging up lately. I don't think anyone here particularly falls for that kind of tripe, but you guys are persistent if nothing else.

Tony Snow is a terrible White House spokesman. Even when he's correct, he says it in a way that makes me want to punch him in the face.

That probably means he's good.
Why pay someone for that? You could say nothing and people would hate you less than if you issued statements via Tony Snow.
