Pulled from the spider hole he cowared in and brought before an Iraqi court of law, Saddam Hussein has been found guilty of Crimes Against Humanity and sentenced to death by hanging. He will have an appeal but it will be short and, for him, biding time. Once his appeal is rejected, the sentence has to be carried out in 30 days.

This is a day that we can all be proud of. Whether you agree or disagree with capital punishment, this was a man who killed an uncountable amount of people without the benefit of the trial he received. We have shown the Iraqi people that we all can rise above such a loathesome, evil man like Saddam Hussein and give him the benefit of a fair trial. He has received it, and the sentence fits his heinous crimes.

The world will be a better place once this tyrant swings from the gallows. This is a major victory against Terror and regimes of oppression and evil.

**Update**

Celebratory gunfire is being heard in the streets of Baghdad. The people are realizing that the Reign of Terror is officially over.

Is it going to be televised? I would assume al arabiya or al jazeera would show it, but I want to see it on Fox News in slo-mo. Hook me up, c_b.

It was just on live, Peter. There was a 30 minute tape delay and the reporter was giving real time accounts of what was going on, but the video is playing now. Same old Saddam - denounced the court, the judge, the U.S., etc.

I meant the actual execution.

Oh, sorry.

Good question. The news was saying earlier that, for whatever reason, the Iraqi people are skeptics and will have to shown his punishment. They said that most people didn't believe that Saddam's sons were dead until they televised the morgue pictures. If they do show it on Al-Jazeera, it's bound to pop up on the internet somewhere.

They'll have something to add to the Faces of Death series.

People who say this don't even know what evil means. I think we should all be reminded of how dangerous it is to see this conflict as a series of moral absolutes.

I think he has other crimes to stand trial for anyhow.

Yes and no. He is an evil dictator and I think that no tears will be shed when he is executed. But people need to reallize that yes, we have one evil dicatator down, but just doing a quick google search shows that we have a long way to go, and I have a feeling that we won't help any of these people under these evil men.

This trial took way too long.

I remember reading this article earlier this year and thinking how lucky I am to have been born in this country.

Yeah, Saloth Sar (aka Pol Pot) was one of the worst during his reign, and his coming to power was partly the US's fault.
