...so says the FDA. But the question is, would you want to?

Here are a few recent articles about it:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16382065/

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/28/busin ... r=homepage

I'm not sure I have a stance yet. I am not altogether against cloning, however there seem to just be too many ways for people to screw this up. It seems like they think it wont even have to be labeled. I'm not sure how comfortable I would feel consuming cloned meat. I already stay away from GMO's. I think cloning has better uses (ie medical), than food production.

something just...doesn't seem right. i realize we don't really know what we're eating right now anyway, but what's to stop the cloners from mutilating the products so that we all consume something bad?

regardless of what people think, they WILL do this though, don't let em fool ya. i guess in some situations (ie china, or somewhere else with an extremely large population) this could be useful, but we really don't need it here, ya know? we got all the food we need.

i don't see why they wouldn't be safe to eat, but i'm a vegetarian so it doesn't really affect me anyway 8)

Oh, cool. Now we can clone all the animals in the world and eat the clones, so no animals have to die.

Man, toss all that rerun burger this way. I'll eat it for you, and you can go back to paying gas-like prices for some ground beef that was born from some heffer getting bullsauce or whatnot. It don't matter to Jesus.

Hmmm. Most of the food we already eat is GM'd, so I guess it's ok. Cloning probably isn't that much different than the artifical insemenation and hormone injection techniques already used. It just sounds creepier.

I'd like to see "meat" grown in big vats so we don't have to kill any animals and can reduce the amount of pollution agriculture causes, but that's still probably a ways off.

The fucking English even want to give ROBOTS rights, so clones will probably still get to choose who they fuck. Seriously, what's the point of building a ROBOT if you can't tell it what to do?!

Lumping AI in with cloning is ridiculous. The hormone injections used are also nowhere along the lines of cloning, but I can accept people claiming it's "modified" to a degree.

I'd be for that, but they better train the current farmers to play a part in it. Let's not shit on the livelihood of a bunch of hardworking people, which this nation could use more of.

Progress will always, always phase out certain jobs. It's just how it goes. Hard working people are hard working people, no matter what industry they are performing in.
