the reason i ask, is my company is now gearing towards the video surveillance market and we actually have a sweet product that allows you to view your cameras through any web enabled device.
so far, the one municipality that is using it (knuckles of frisco may see it next time he's this way) has already used it to bust three crimes.
would you have any problem with your image being recorded as you walked down a street if it meant making it easier to catch criminals?
this is one of those things i can never decide one. It's creepy and invasive, but on the other hand it might catch something bad and or illegal. I think i'm gonna go with against it.

Private entities using surveillance on their own private property with the consent of all private individuals involved: absolutely no problem. Don't spread that surveillance to other private entities without their consent, though.
Public entities using surveillance on STRICTLY public property: not a huge problem. However, some common sense needs to be put in play here. Using surveillance to help solve serious crimes like murder or rape: good thing; using it for minor things like jaywalking or kids smoking weed in the park: not so good.

im talking strictly in the sense of a township/municipality/city using cameras as a way to deter crime. the jaywalking charge is out the window, i know in downtown pittsburgh they dont really ticket you for such things.
In PA you are not allowed to record audio without written consent and even then its iffy.
i personally have no problem with it. its not like i would be walking down the street doing anything illegal and i definately feel any good it does far outweighs the bad

it shows a lack of trust in humanity... it should be limited to places that are vulnerable... generally people are good, i think privacy is important. if anyone's put under a microscope we all seem at least crazy, and probably criminal

i think youre missing the point, this isnt about putting cameras in your home, im talking streets that businesses operate on
obscure reference... does anyone remember that show Titus? This one episode the father was caught on camera running a red light. And there appears to be a furry mop or dog in his lap.

it's an invasion of privacy. what i do in my time is not of anyones business and certainly needn't be recorded on film.

if youre walking down a crowded street, i hardly think that is an invasion of your privacy

i'm aware of that but there needs to be a line. it's going to keep being pushed back
