An interesting study that questions Britain's drug-classification system.

Absolutely, but only because its used much more frequently and in a greater variety of situations where dangerous stuff could occur.

Long term use, not abuse, is not nearly as dangerous as using ecstasy once a week for a few years.

I thought multiple ecstasy uses was an almost surefire way to get brain damage. I'm not talking DARE propaganda, but this is what Loveline told me. Although Alcohol is dangerous, ecstasy scares the bejeebus out of me.

I know people that have used it quite frequently and are perfectly fine. I haven't done it more than a few times, and its enough for me.

Just the U.K.'s classification system!? It's the whole fucking convention on narcotic substances (yes, officials still call all drugs "narcotics"). Ecstasy remains Schedule I - a classification that blocks any medical usage - in the United States, even though it has demonstrated a possibility to, at low doses, help people with intense post-trauma stress.

With deadly WD's, extremely high addiction patterns, high yearly fatality rate among users, and dangerous psychological effects at high doses, and not counting the widespread usage and availability, alcohol is the second-most dangerous drug. Meth, crack, and benzos like Xanax are the only ones that challenge it. Tobacco (specifically, the nicotine therein) is leading the dangerous drug division by at least 20.5 games. And guess what? Both tobacco and alcohol are perfectly legal. Short-sited analysts will always point to the higher rate of "one-time use" deaths with the controlled substances vs. alcohol and tobacco, but should this be the only criteria? And many medical professionals acknowledge that street-produced drugs such as cocaine and heroin cause OD more from the "cut" than from the drug itself.

X is on Schedule I here in the states; Schedule I is defined as a classification of drugs that have a high potential for addiction and no recognized medical uses - even though Ex has a very low potential for addiction. Marijuana is on Schedule I also (even though Marinol, which is synthetic THC, is on Schedule III). Heroin is S-I, even though the more potent Fentanyl is Schedule-II (high addiction potential with recognized medical uses), partially leading to the cases where Fentanyl-spiked heroin causes overdoses.

Ex was put on the list when a few cases of deaths came about, even though it was later found that dehydration was the primary cause of death (many who take ex are ravers, and thus lose water fast - the process of losing water is potentiated somewhat by ex). Salvia is now outlawed in several states by a similar grassroots Christian campaign, which centers around the suicide of a teenaged boy who happened to mention the drug in his journals.

It's a god damned mess.

So let me get this straight. Because alcohol and tabacco represent the potential to be dangerous, only when abused, it should be rated higher on the danger scale.

But because X appears to only be dangerous when it is abused and misused it should be rated lower.

Hmmm. Makes sense.

I suspect if the use of X was scaled to match the use of alcohol, we would see a different picture than what is painted in this study.

One important fact to note: the liver repairs itself, the brain...not so much.

Always been skeptical of X cause it came around a lot more when i was out of college and i was done with acid by then. I know nothing about it except for what i've heard from friends so i wouldn't even try to comment on this one. If people would only follow this "rule" when discussing marijuana. 8)

I did Salvia once. Its the most wild ride imaginable. I loved it, but would NEVER do it again.

You can buy it over the counter here. A friend of mine did some last weekend and said "It took 3 minutes for me to realize that I was actually human, and a further 2 minutes to remember my own name".

I've done ecstasy a bunch of times.

The bad thing about it is that you never truly know whats in it.

Anyone interested in ecstasy should check this book out:
ecstasy:the complete guide
http://www.amazon.com/Ecstasy-Complete- ... 0892818573

It was written by a friend of ours and has lots of useful information in it.
