GREGORY: Let me ask you about your leadership. In the most recent survey, your disapproval rating is now one point lower than Richard Nixon‘s before he resigned the presidency. You‘re laughing, but ...
BUSH: I'm not laughing, I just ...
GREGORY: ... why do you think that is?
BUSH: Because we're at war, and war unsettles people. We got-listen, we've got a great economy. We've added 5.2 million jobs in the last two-and-a-half years. But there's a-but people are unsettled. They don‘t look at the economy and say life is good. They know we're at war and I'm not surprised that people are unsettled because of war.
The enemy has got a powerful tool, and that is to get on your TV screen by killing innocent people, and my job is to continue to remind the people it's worth it. We're not going to retreat hastily. You know, we're not going to pull out of there before the job is done and we‘ve got a plan for victory.
GREGORY: But they're just not unsettled, sir. They disapprove of the job you‘re doing.

did i understand this correctly when bush said "it's worth it" for innocent people to be killed on tv?
no i'm pretty sure what he meant is that it's worth it to continue fighting agains those people.
now that i read it twice, that's what it seems like he's trying to say. it's just all the stuttering and sentence fragmentation that fucks me up, i guess.

I'll let someone else explain things because English isn't my forte. However, I can't help but think that this is what happens when you learn English from Canadians.

Yes, but he was an Iranian corrupted by the Canadian version of English and way of life.

the funny thing is that was the exact opposite, he is a quite religious muslim and went out of Iran because his family were quite "liberal" for his standards.

That doesn't explain why Canda was a good match for him. If he's too Muslim for Iran, I can't think of anywhere that would meet his approval.

unsettled... i think what he's getting as is that the american people are nervous / uneasy about the situation at present. if they were settled, everything would be okay and there would be a certain calmness in the nation.
hope that helps, HB.

After I eat Taco Bell, I feel really "unsettled." I just end up rolling around on my couch while holding my belly and moaning.
Bush might just be waiting for God to tell him something new. Maybe George Carlin will get his wish, and God will tell Bush, "Go take a shit on the salad bar at Wendy's."
