 Post subject: ACLU to sue over Bush demonstrations

Oregon's history with protesting is spotty at best. While there are a number of activists here who are prone to committing violence, the Jacksonville demonstration really wasn't anything of the sort. As you can read in the article, the protests went on for hours without incident, until the police stepped in with unnecessary force. Had I not had the kids that day, I would have been there myself.

omg, Ara! sweet little Jacksonville a hot spot of civil disobedience? it would be funny if it weren't so disturbing. But, having lived in S. Oregon & remembering the general political climate there (except for Ashland, of course), I'm actually not too surprised. Just sad.
