http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/01 ... index.html CNN) -- Britain's Prince Harry apologized Wednesday for wearing a Nazi uniform to a party, admitting he made a bad choice and saying through his publicist, "I am very sorry if I caused any offense."
The apology was released by the Clarence House Press office: "I am very sorry if I caused any offense or embarrassment to anyone. It was a poor choice of costume and I apologize."
The press office said, "Prince Harry apologized tonight after he was pictured on the front page of The Sun newspaper in a Nazi soldier's uniform which he wore to a fancy dress party."
An image of the front page of Thursday's editions was released to the media late Wednesday.
A large headline reads, "Harry the Nazi."
Next to it stands the prince, who is wearing slacks and a short-sleeve shirt, both beige, with a red Nazi insignia on his left arm.
Prince Harry is third in line to the British throne after his father, Prince Charles, and his brother, Prince William.
Sun Managing Editor Graham Dudman advised media outlets it owned the copyright to the images and must be credited for their use

That's a pretty moronic costume to wear, I don't care how loose a party that it is. What sane person would think to wear something like that? I think deathbyflannel put it best.

I am not at all offended by his apparel. I just question his intelligence, when you are a member of the royal family a certain amount of tact must be applied.

Don't take this the wrong way (although I'm sure someone will) but you must admit that Nazi regalia quite aestheically pleasing, when removed from the stigma that it is associated with.
Prince Harry is still a dumbass, but I just wanted to point that out.

I think that many people forget the visceral impact of Nazi regalia and images when they view the ascension of Hitler from today's viewpoint. I can't imagine the massive impact that an event such as the Nurmburg rallies must have had, especially for an audience that was not a fraction as sensory-saturated as we are today.

I think this is hilarious.
You see, when you're the second son of royalty, you have two choices. Become the Archbishop of Canterbury, or just dick off for your whole life. Happily, Harry has chosen the latter.

Nazi's had the pimpest uniforms ever, and this is coming from a Jew who is missing a few relatives because of the holacaust. As for being offended, I really don't care. I think he is a dumb shit, because of the position he holds, and the fact that he has to be a complete idiot not to realize that these photos would get out. I doubt he wore it to promote nazism, but knowing the sensitivity of the issue, and how it reflects on his family and the government as a whole, pretty fucking dumb.
