I know many people aren't tuning into the debates and the '08 Presidential election (it being over 500 days away still), but I was wondering if anyone has caught on to Ron Paul's ideas. He seems to be getting a lot of traction from the left due to his foreign policy philosophy of non-interventionism.

What strikes me most about the guy is that Republicans are balking on all of the current candidates because none of them are "true conservatives," but from listening to the guy it seems they have one staring them right in the face, that being Congressman Paul. Well, he's really a libertarian, but he's more conservative than the 9 other candidates in the current field.

Anyone digging what he has to say?

Except for his anti-abortion & anti-gay marriage stance, I have really been impressed with his ideas. It's like Pat Buchanan without the bigotry. His willingness to tell the truth about the effects of bombing Iraq were shocking. I also really like his desire to return to the gold standard. Since currently our money is backed by God and oil, and the oil is going away, we need something else... soon.

A Gore v. Paul debate would be boring as hell, but at least it would be honest.

I don't find him boring at all. Maybe I'm just enamored with his focus on pertinent problems as opposed to the constantly debated social issues we usually see. No one could sit with a straight face and tell you that abortion and gay marriage are more important than U.S. interventionist policies. Plus, he might be the only member of Congress to actually read the 9/11 commission report. Thats worth a vote in itself.

Ron Paul is refreshing and honest. The more i listen to him, the more he makes the other candidates look like pre-schoolers. Although some of his ideas are a little too radical (CIA and IRS issues).

Hes been getting a ton of buzz since the debate especially through the internet. I like this guy.

Im beginnign to like tihs guy as well, especialyl after he was laying into guilliani on bill maher. Hilarious.

The guy speaks honestly, intelligently and speaks about the real issues. Which is why others find him boring and the big right wing machine tries to tear him down.

Mccain is an idiot, guilliani is an idiot, and the rest ofthem are all half monkeys, yet dont believe in it.

I've liked Paul for a long time. Too bad he's even less likely than Giuliani to get the GOP nomination, and that's tough to do.

I've been a fan for a long time.

Though I was a fan of McCain back in 2000 I even wrote him in once and he's turned out poorly for what it's worth.

It dosen't bother me if gay people get married, likewise I am pro legalization....but...

It's Refreshing to see a conservative canidate focus on monitary issues and not bullcrap morality pandering for once.

He may be the only republican canidate who actually has read the 9/11 report.

So this guy has about as much of a chance as Dennis, right?

That said, I like where he's coming from.

The only GOP presidential candidate I have any respect for.

I like him better than the other GOP candidates not named Ron Paul.

You guys like him because he's honest about the issues and ideologies that he believes in that you all hate...

Makes sense.

Look, I think Guiliani is an opportunist and a miserable fuck (wouldn't vote for him), but Matt Taibbi is a muckraking hack without a shred of journalistic integrity in my book. He is Stephen Glass reincarnate as far as I'm concerned.
