Carter, not content to simply insult sitting heads of state, has turned his ire towards outgoing British PM Tony Blair.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6672035.stm

Former US President Jimmy Carter has criticised outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair for his "blind" support of the war in Iraq.

Mr Carter told the BBC Mr Blair's backing for US President George W Bush had been "apparently subservient".

He said the UK's "almost undeviating" support for "the ill-advised policies of President Bush in Iraq had been a major tragedy for the world".

His comments came as Mr Blair paid what is likely to be his last visit to Iraq.

Hey, all bets are off when it comes to other leaders, right? Surely other leaders would love to take shots at Bush. :haha:

If Jimmy called Blair "subservient", I can't wait to hear what he'd say about Little Johnny Howard over in Australia.

I'm sorry, but I just can't take jimmy carter. He is a delusional weakling. I am especially spiteful of his comments to Israeli PM Golda Meir in 1973, leccturing her about the secular nature of Israel. He said something like "Israel was punished whenever its leaders turned away from devout worship of God." Fuck you Jimmy.

Jimmy's just an old man trying to get his last shots in while he still can. I generally find him pretty entertaining unless he's talking about Israel, an area where he tries so hard to bend over backwards and show that he's being fair to the Arabs that he doesn't realize he's ended up with his head up his ass.

Well so far, he's pretty much right about the US and T. Blair.

Former president Carter condemns the US and the EU for giving aid to the West Bank but not to the Gaza strip. He seems to think that because Hamas was elected, that they are a legitimate political party. Some of the language he is using about the west "dividing" palestinians is especially scary as it is exactly in line with Hamas's retoric. Any seconds to my"Dear Carter, please STFU in regards to Israel/Palestine"?

I think Carter's a great example of what happens when highly visible political figures are old enough to have nothing left to lose, but still have the feelings and opinions they carried, and hid, while in office. Harmless, for the most part, and rather odd (occasionally insightful?).

Israel I can't....I mean...seriously. Israel? I mean...sigh...Israel?

I'll never get over how big a deal that sliver of shithole real estate is to so many people, and how thoroughly it represents the degree to which religion breeds stupidity in any and all people.

Apparently the same guy had a piece published in the Washington Post today as well. They were talking about it on NPR.
