>>Former White House Official Convicted In Perjury Case
(Washington, DC) -- Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff, has been convicted of obstructing an investigation into who leaked the name of a secret CIA operative. Libby was charged in connection with a federal grand jury investigation into who blew the cover of Valerie Plame, a CIA agent and wife of a prominent critic of the Iraq war, former ambassador Joseph Wilson. During the trial, Libby's defense told the jury Libby couldn't precisely remember conversations about Plame because he was busy with more pressing matters, including the Iraq war. He faces up to several years in prison and fines of more than one-million dollars.

He'll land in jail just in time for an 11th hour Presidential pardon.

There's no way in hell Bush can pardon this guy . . . he's an idiot, but not that big of an idiot (or is he?).
Libby went down, but other heads should have rolled with his.
I'll put odds on Libby getting a pardon, but the question is whether he will get a pardon BEFORE he serves any jail time or not.
That would suicide for Republicans. More than likely, Libby's appeal will be before the D.C. Circuit in about 8 months, with a decision by about July of 2008. He'll likely be sentenced in about 2-3 months, but the judge could suspend it pending appeal. Once the D.C. Circuit rules, his options will essentially be out. Therefore, Bush would have to pardon him right during the heat of the the 2008 election. Typically, the lame-ducker issues his pardons within the last few weeks of office.
Chalk another one up for Fitzgerald! The guy's a stud (ask Richard Daley and his lackies).

Well, no one is saying that Bush is going to pardon him before January 2009.

I took that to mean david was pondering whether Libby would make it to jail before the end of Bush's term.

I agree with Chris... a pardon would be political suicide for the Republicans.

another in the line of many.
Yeah but Marc Rich is one thing... one so close to the inner workings of the White House is something completely different. If it stinks enough, Bush has no trouble distancing himself, like for instance, with Ken Lay.

Does Fox News intentionally try to lose credibility?
I hate FAUXNews and think its the only thing that Satan watches, but The 11-member jury acquitted Mr. Libby on an additional count of making false statements to the F.B.I. ( http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/06/washi ... ref=slogin )
So they were right on that count... but I did watch them a bit after the verdict and they made the prosecutor out to be the bad guy of course.

You missed the first part of this shot. They ran a guilty on 4 counts first. Then they ran this. While I'm no apologist for Fox News, the picture here is a little misleading.
