Being bisexual is a distinct orientation, not a temporary stage, says the study by Lisa Diamond, an associate professor of psychology and gender studies at the University of Utah.
most women "possess the capacity to experience sexual desires for both sexes, under the right circumstances."
There you have it folks, scientific, peer-reviewed proof.

Just because it's the orientation of most women, doesn't mean it's not an orientation. Most men only get pleasure from women, thus the orientation of most men is straight.

I can see how that could be true. Gay women don't tend to be as chastized in this society as gay men, so it gives women a chance to be a bit more open about their romantic choices. I think Love has a lot less to do with sex than we make it out to, and a lot of people become sexually attracted to someone AFTER falling in love with them.
I've never really been attracted to a chick the same as I have guys, but I guess if I was I would give it a shot. *shrugs*

Me thinks sexual orientation is genetic. Me also thinks that some gene combinations produce bi-sexual orientations. Me thirdly thinks this study is bullsh*t from someone trying to get attention and funding.

A hippy friend of mine from highschool was arguing quite vehemently that basically everyone is naturally bisexual and its only through social pressures that we don't act on those urges. Ummm... right.
Malice, I would appreciate it if you would expand your views on the subject, it seems as though this has been discussed before and I missed it.

i actually believe the same thing. But i also differentiate sex and love when it comes to being gay or straight. i see sex as an open source of fun as long as everyone is actually consenting and enjoying it. engaging in a homosexual act, to me doesn't make a person gay.
