i'm rereading a rather interesting book by mr. alan dershowitz regarding the beliefs of specifically thomas jefferson but also his colleagues who helped to shape the declaration and it's astonishing -- put aside your thoughts on dershowitz, because he lays out jefferson's own words -- to see how this document has been abused over the years considering those beliefs.

haha.

i wonder how much overlap there is. the book i have does at times get a little messy: he runs sentences through using multiple smaller quotes instead of bigger ones, repeats himself, has some ideas that don't seem completely organized and/or fleshed out. but it still works.

Dershowitz does have some really shitty opinions regarding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, Noam Chomsky has thoroughly dispatched him in a few debates on Democracy Now from the last couple years

true, but that doesn't discount his arguments on this specific topic, which are important and correct.
