Michael Moore's Bodyguard Arrested on Airport Gun Charge
Thursday, January 20, 2005
NEW YORK — Filmmaker Michael Moore's (search) bodyguard was arrested for carrying an unlicensed weapon in New York's JFK airport Wednesday night.
Police took Patrick Burke, who says Moore employs him, into custody after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter. Burke is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.
Moore's 2003 Oscar-winning film "Bowling for Columbine" criticizes what Moore calls America's "culture of fear" and its obsession with guns.
If you were Michael Moore, you'd have a bodyguard who carries a gun too.
He's a fucking idiot for not having it licensed in New York though, considering that's where Michael lives.

Michael Moore gave up his right to have his bodyguard carry a gun when he decided that no one else should carry a gun. Unless of course you're saying he's a hypocrite. If, according to Moore, I shouldn't have a gun, then neither should he.

I don't think Moore ever said that "no one" else should carry a gun. I think he's fine with police and Secret Service carrying guns, as well as other security professionals. Have you actually seen BFC?
And yes, Moore is a hypocrite too.

Little Mikey Moore....what a goob. He thinks I shouldn't own a gun...I think he shouldn't own a car.

Yes, I've seen BFC. So security professionals can carry them? I guess if I have enough money I can hire someone to carry a gun for me but I shouldn't be able to carry one to protect myself. And Moore's for the working man?

You know what, Michael Moore is a hypocrite. I've been saying that for a LONG time. My wife was his secretary for a year, I know it well. But maybe if certain people weren't making death threats on him, he wouldn't feel the need to have an armed bodyguard. Does Jethro in the trailer park get death threats in the mail, or he is he more likely to send them?

Actually, I think you are all wrong. If anyone can find an instance anywhere in BFC where Michael Moore says "I don't think anyone but security professionals or cops should own guns" feel free to quote it to me. What the man did was produce a documentary that explored the culture of violence in America and attempt to find answers to the questions as to why America has so many deaths by firearms. Any jackass can regurgitate the bullshit that Fox "News" has programmed them with. I challenge you to think for yourself.
Also its worth noting that Michael Moore is, as the saying goes, "Hated by some, loved by many, ignored by no-one" Therefore for Mr. Moore it would appear to be mission accomplished. He has attempted throughout his career to make his voice heard above the shit storm of popular culture and has suceeded. Remember, Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Well, I suggest you watch an episode of 'Cops' because then you'd realize that while Moore may be getting more threats in the mail, Jethro in the trailer park has a much better chance of actually being physically attacked.

I find it unbelievably entertaining that you accuse anyone that doesn't like Moore of doing nothing more than regurgitating Fox news and then tell them to think for themselves. Bringing Fox news into the discussion is the most tired argument of them all. Perhaps thinking for yourself would improve your debating skills, at least on the originality front.

I'd be more likely to send them if thats what youre getting at, but they would be hollow threats, heres why:
No one wants to kill Micheal Moore, to turn him into the worlds fattest martyr would be tragic, people would actually think he accomplished something and I am not sure if I could deal with that.

Haha...not true. I ignore him.
So you are saying to me that you are posting an opinion about someone who you have absolutely no awareness of or information about? O.K. I'm making a mental note to ignore all your opinions from here on.

Fair enough, scratch anything I said about Fox News from my post and then get back to me on the rest of the statement.
