it takes 26 litres.

"In summary, the manufacture and transport of that one kilogram bottle of Fiji water consumed 26.88 kilograms of water (7.1 gallons) .849 Kilograms of fossil fuel (one litre or .26 gal) and emitted 562 grams of Greenhouse Gases (1.2 pounds)."

yeah, i almost didn't post that link because of the negative connotations i knew it would cause. i found this on digg, they're just a website who were reporting it because obviously they have a special interest in it. the original source was the other link i posted, but the treehugger article summarised it so it was a little less confusing.

I've always thought buying bottled water non-locally is retarded. Guess I was right.

Everything about fiji water is morally devoid. Even their magazine ads. Anyone that has anything to do with that company, employee or consumer, can go fuck themselves.

The real question is, how many tires does it take to make 10 bottles? 100? 1,000? 10,000?

I tend to drink more bottled water at school (usually Kirkland brand stuff) because the tap water around here isn't all that hot. Theoretically the S.F. Bay Area has some of the best tap water in the country with our delicious Hetch Hetchy water.

Ok, maybe my area doesn't actually get Hetch Hetchy water, but we get equally good Sierra water. :)

Don't have the exact wording in front of me, but several weeks ago I was reading something hilarious about a Fiji ad campaing that said something along the lines of "Fiji: Not Bottled in Cleveland". Cleveland gets pissed, the mayor commissions a study and finds that Cleveland city tap water has 0 parts per million (maybe billion, whatever it was) of arsenic, which Fiji had 6 ppm.

Pretty solid rebuttal. And yeah, bottled water is retarded. Such a waste...

The Penn & Teller Bullshit on bottled water was one of the best episodes.
