Unfortunately, it's so elementary, and the big time investors behind the drive in the stock market aren't so stupid. This isn't the false economy of 2000.

I'm actually rather interested in just how important or successful some of this spending really is, the PDF makes it seem bad but doesn't really justify the argument against it in many of the cases. Which is to say I wonder how much of it is overtly politically motivated spending.
