Mastectomy in Congress - Please read - It's important
In a world where Viagra is covered by insurance companies, but not prenatal vitamins, it's about time we made lawmakers listen to the needs of women--
Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill - Important legislation for all women. Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. If you are receiving this, it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to express your opinion. . .and send it on to others you know who will do the same.
There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the "drive-through mastectomy" where women are forced to go home hours after surgery against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.
Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House signed on.
PLEASE!!!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name and zip code number.

I fail to understand why an act is needed for something that should just be common sense other than the HMO system in this country is severely unfocused on its patients and are instead all about profit margins and how much money they can get from the RX companies. Its a sad state of affairs when we need the federal government to come in an pass an act or initiate legislation to protect us from the people who are supposed to protect us (Hippocratic Oath - I swear by Apollo....preservation of life). Oh, we'll work on getting the cancer out of your body, but you'll have to go heal up on your own because we don't want to pay to have you stay here. F-'ers.
